2016 is our year! After the success of our November event, Potters House went ahead and booked our event quarterly for all of 2016! That means we are in business. The next one is on 2/19 – you can sign up to perform by clicking HERE. Bring your $5 as we are charging a small cover fee this time to pay for the art supplies for our live painters. It’s been a min since I’ve updated the happenings (happy 2016!). The second edition of ArtBetweenUs was nothing short of AMAZING – This was our launch event at The Potters House in DC (a new venue for the open mic) and it was PACKED! There were so many talented women in the house and such a warm/supportive artist. Hopefully, I’ll have some pics to post soon…..
When I first became Muslim, I was told that I couldn’t be a performer anymore. After putting my music on hold for 5 years and searching for a space where I could be my whole self, I’ve finally come full circle to a place where I can help create space for other women creatives to shine! So me and the hubby finally got it together to book a show for 2015. This one, “Beautiful Struggle,” is featuring sets by two of our homies bands… Leftist & Khalil Ismael. Combined with a set by your favorite couple (Muhammad & myself, of course!), it’s bound to be a good time, God-willing! The show will take place on Sunday, 1/11/15 from 6-8pm…..I’m SO excited to be working with Bloombars, the dopest community space in DC. Check them out at http://www.bloombars.org.
